How to stay cool while wearing a mask
As we all try to survive this heatwave, a common question we've received from our community is "how on earth do I stay cool while wearing a mask?". We've compiled a few tips that will help you stay cool while also protecting yourself and others this summer.
Choose a white or lighter colour mask.
The colour black absorbs absorbs all wavelengths of light and reflects none, meaning that black absorbs the most heat. A black or dark-colour mask absorbs heat and can make you hotter a lot faster so sticking to white or a lighter-colour option is best for summer!
Stick it in the freezer.
Stick your mask in the freezer for 10 minutes before you leave home. While this isn't going to cool you off for the entire day, it'll definitely help for a little while and is super effective if you plan on just being out for a quick errand.
Bring a spare.
If your mask gets sweaty and dirty while you're out (which can happen quick on humid days), switching your mask for a clean spare can help. Make sure you bring an extra bag to store your used one.
Find a style with a little more room between the fabric and your nose/mouth. We've designed our masks with extra fabric in the middle so it gives more space to breathe (especially helpful on hot days).
We hope this helps! If you try any of these tips or have any of your own, we'd love to hear them. Stay cool!
